Robin Tolmach Lakoff, nada en Brooklyn (EE UU) en 1942, é unha profesora emérita de lingüística na Universidade de California en Berkeley. É unha pioneira nos estudos sobre xénero e linguaxe.
Traxectoria
[editar | editar a fonte]Robin Lakoff graduouse no Radcliffe College en 1964, obtivo un posgrao na Universidade de Indiana en 1965, e un doutoramento na Universidade de Harvard en 1967. Casou co lingüista George Lakoff.[1] Ensinou na Universidade de California, Berkeley, desde 1972.[2]
Mentres estudiaba no Radcliffe College vai asistir as clases de Noam Chomsky no Instituto de Tecnoloxía de Massachusetts (MIT), e vai establecer vínculos co Departamento de Lingüística do MIT.[3]
En 1975 publicou A linguaxe e o lugar da muller, unha obra fundamental da sociolingüística feminista, que provocou un gran debate en lingüística e outras disciplinas.[4][5][6]
Lakoff colabora co Huffington Post[7] e recibiu grande atención polo artigo de opinión en TIME titulado "Hillary Clinton's Emailgate Is an Attack on Women".[8]
